Sew Vintage

I just got these great vintage mod '60's patterns. Only problem, I don't sew. Anyone that does have any suggestions on fabric to use? I'd love to make them myself, but I guess I should start with a pillow. Lady I bought them from said it would be no problem for the seemstress to cut the pattern down to my size.
Note to self: 1. Find fabric. 2. Find seemstress.

Go with a medium-weight cotton. Anything heavier (broadcloth) or lighter (flimsy cotton, silk, etc) won't hold the shape as well. Go for something the weight of a typical oxford shirt.

Cute! How fun, there are so many amazing fabrics.I agree a mid-weight cotton is a great place to start.

I have made myself skirts from my Mom's vintage patterns before. My only bit of advice is to make sure not to take the sizes on the patterns too literally. For example, a pattern size 12 is probably more like a 6 today. You have to look at the actual measurments. My mother has eternally been a size 4 or 6, but all of her patterns from the 60's are 10s and 12s.
Love your fabric choices. I have made lots of things with Amy Butler fabric that have turned out beautifully.
Good Luck!
