I'm trying. Honest, I am.

Far from home with no relatives even thinking of coming for Christmas. I can't travel home for Christmas ever because even though my hubby has a lot of perks at work being off for Christmas rarely happens. And when it does he's not in the mood to travel. He'll be home during the day but gone that night. My older two won't be coming home this year as other committments don't give them enough time to get here and back. And it doesn't help that my husband has never really liked Christmas. I haven't decorated much this year. Just haven't been into it. Christmas always used to be my favorite time of year. But this year especially it just seems like a lonely painful holiday is on its way. I'm trying to remember the reason for the season. I am thankful my youngest two will be home and I'm trying to get in the spirit. It just hasn't come over me yet. Hope you all are looking forward to your Christmas with lots of family and enjoying traditions and making new ones.

When growing up, Christmas was the same every year and very comforting. As I've gotten older, I've had some pretty interesting ones but even if I can't be with all my loved ones, I try to live in the moment and know that next year will be different. And, for the most part, they have been. I hope you enjoy this Christmas and perhaps a few new memories! I hope that next year you can all be together!

Well, you don't know me (I am Paige's- The Sweetest Thing, blogs lifetime friend). I am praying you a great Christmas, any way in spite of people missing on Christmas day. I pray you find a happy and merry in you and you will be filled with joy. I pray your two children at home will make you giggle so hard. So, you should have a funky kind of silly Christmas breakfast and then get out of there and go to a movie and be silly with your littles, so when your husband gets home at the end of the day you will fill full of hope and peaceful inside. I pray the joy of Christ to surround your heart so that no piece of sadness can reside. That is the kind of Christmas day I will pray for you!

I am certain my sweet friend Paige would gladly share me. We all need a little hug sometimes and someone to dust us off a bit and send us on our way. I pray you a day of sugar coated wonderful. I love visiting your blog by the way. Smiles to you.

Also, what I meant in first comment..."You will feel (not fill) full of hope"...smile. I type too fast!

I'm hoping you have a wonderful Christmas with your children at home and you feel the love and warmth of those thinking about you whether family or friends that are not close enough to visit in person. Many Blessings from my home to yours!

Dear Southern - Christmas has that effect sometimes doesn't it. I live far from family too and they way I fix that is I invite everyone who I know won't be with family for Christmas. Plus I'm sure it makes God smile to take care of others who may be alone :-)
Everyone brings some food & we have one huge food and fun filled time - I highly recommend it to ward off the Christmas blues :-) Best antidote to lonely Christmas is proaction - Its not too late :-):-)

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas in the way it's meant to be for your special family. I have the same situation as you as far as extended family. Both mine and my hubby's families live far away and we never travel. Also, on alternate years my husband's children from his first marraige aren't with us on Christmas. I know that must be sad for him. We do have a son together so at least it's the three of us together. I have found that I make traditions myself and keep them year after year and it's comforting to ME at least! Even if it's a favorite movie or batch of cookies. Merry Christmas, dear one.
